Meet our Board of Directors

Phil Weathers
President
Phil Weathers is an author, event planner and life long music fan. He, along with fellow board member Ronnie Whisnant, has organized many fundraisers for non-profits all over Cleveland County, including Cleveland County Memorial Library and the Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center. His background in fundraising and his love for music played a huge roll in developing the Cleveland County Music Hall of Fame.
A collector of Rock and Roll memorabilia, Phil is co-host of the YouTube podcast, "Tomorrow Never Knows". Some guests have included Ivor Davis, Bela Lugosi Jr., Dave Hebler (Elvis Bodyguard) and three members of Paul McCartney's band Wings.
Phil is retired from Cleveland County Schools having served as a teacher, wrestling coach and principal at Kings Mountain High School and Director of Student Services and Safe Schools.

Angela Padgett
Vice President
Angela Padgett is a graduate from Appalachian State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Communications with a concentration in Broadcasting.
Angela honed her skills in Museum/Retail Management and Event Planning serving for 16 years as the Museum and Merchandising Manager of the Hendrick Motorsports Museum and Team Store. After leaving Hendrick Motorsports, Angela came back home to Cleveland County as the Housing Director, then Senior Center Director of the Council on Aging, Neal Senior Center. It was there she gained experience in Non-Profit and Fundraising Management.
Angela is currently the Special Events Coordinator for the City of Kings Mountain. She also serves on the board of the Kings Mountain Historical Museum and hosts a weekly NASCAR program called NASCAR Thunder on AM 1450 WGNC.

Tommy Burns
Tommy is a native of Shelby, NC and grandson of one of the inaugural inductees into the Cleveland County Music Hall of Fame, legendary disc jockey, Hugh Dover.
Tommy graduated from Crest High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Campbell University. He also holds a Master’s degree in Trust and Investment Management from the Campbell University School of Business and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He has been a City or County Manager for over 20 years in North Carolina and currently serves as the County Manager in Carteret County.
He is the author of the book, “Wholly Obedient Humble Servant: The Life Story of Hugh Dover”, that will be out in mid-2023. Tommy worked for several years in the 1990’s at WKMT alongside his grandfather and later at WOHS, where Mr. Dover worked the majority of his 52-year career in radio.
While in college Tommy served several years as the radio voice for the Campbell University Radio Network, covering Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s Baseball, Women’s Softball and local High School football games.

Patti Weathers
Patti Weathers is a graduate of Appalachian State University and received a Masters Degree from Western Carolina University.
Patti is retired from Kings Mountain District Schools after serving as a Math and Science teacher. She enjoys music, has attended numerous concerts and has met several musicians. She also enjoys singing in the choir at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Shelby, NC.

Mary Fox
Secretary
Mary Fox is a graduate from Crest High School and attended Greensboro College on a Drama Scholarship. She has appeared in numerous plays in Shelby and Kings Mountain.
Working with a Talent Agency in Charlotte, Mary worked special events at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. She served as an extra in the movie, "The Hunger Games" an appeared in television programs such as "Southern Fried Stings" and "Banshee" among others.
Mary loves music, and grew up in a family of music lovers. Mary has met various musicians, most recently Mike Nesmith and Micky Dolenz of The Monkees.

Jeff Champion
Jeff Champion is a life-long Cleveland County resident. He spent the majority of his radio career with WOHS/WXIK from 1976 – 1988. Though he was a country music DJ by profession, he is an avid music fan of many genres.
Jeff grew up in a musical family that influenced his appreciation of music. His parents and siblings were all accomplished musicians and singers and they spent many hours around the piano playing and singing all types of music ranging from gospel to classical.
Jeff was the owner and President of Champion Communications advertising agency and the Publisher of Foothills Spotlight Magazine. Currently, he is a realtor/broker with his brother’s real estate firm Champion Properties.
Jeff grew up in a musical family that influenced his appreciation of music. His parents and siblings were all accomplished musicians and singers and they spent many hours around the piano playing and singing all types of music ranging from gospel to classical.

Ryan Fox is a graduate of Crest High School and Cleveland Community College.
Prior to joining the Cleveland County Music Hall of Fame, Ryan was involved in many fundraising events in an around Cleveland County. Some of these events include working with the Cleveland Memorial Library, the Cleveland County Humane Society and the Council on Aging Neal Senior Center.

Andrew Fulton
Andrew Fulton is a native of Kings Mountain, NC and graduated from Kings Mountain High School in 1991.
Andrew worked as a DJ at WKMT in Kings Mountain and WADA in Shelby for 20 years. He has played rhythm guitar and drums and is a vocalist for various groups throughout the community. He and his wife regularly perform at churches and events throughout North and South Carolina.
Currently, Andrew works for Altec Industries and is a member of The Haze Band.
Andrew is married to Sarah Fulton, the Choral Director at Kings Mountain High School. They have three children, AJ, Kate, and Jayse.

Ronnie Whisnant has been playing music ever since high school. Playing in several bands, Ronnie has had the opportunity to play with several great musicians and open for some national artists.
Ronnie, along with fellow board member Phil Weathers, has organized many fundraisers for non-profits all over Cleveland County, including Cleveland County Memorial Library and the Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center.
Retired from Cleveland County Schools where he served as a teacher for Kings Mountain High School, Ronnie has been a member of the band Crimson Rose for the last 25 years.
